STAYCATION

staycation

"Go on a Stay-cation instead of a Va-cation this year."

- Merriam-Webster, Cincinnati Enquirer, July 18, 1944.

This is the first recorded use of the word Staycation over 70 years ago.

Stay-cation (stay – stay) and (“cation"from vacation - vacation) is an alternative form of the traditional vacation. And it turns out that in 2020 it can become the main one.

Staycations, also called Holistays or Daycations, became popular in the US during the financial crisis of 2007-2010 and in the UK in 2009 when traveling abroad became extremely expensive.

But what exactly is this?

In the beginning, the concept meant "to enjoy a relaxing time at home or somewhere nearby (hence the term Nearcation"). These are forms of vacation without the fuss of organizing or the expense of traveling abroad, without border control, without packing and without spending all our savings.

Besides being much more affordable, this type of tourism also helps the environment by reducing carbon emissions from flights. It allows us to discover the beauty and sights of our country or city. Something we usually don't do due to the fact that personal life, work and responsibilities consume our daily life.

Over time, the Staycation concept grew and was joined by hotels and short-term rental companies. With interesting packages and attractive prices, people are stimulated to plan short trips in the country or a weekend at the sea. To enjoy a different view and atmosphere without traveling far.

It is becoming increasingly popular in Asia and Europe to book overnight stays in glitzy hotels or fully furnished and luxurious apartments in the same or neighboring city.

This is a great way to keep the comfort of our familiar environment, but also to enjoy all the amenities that we don't have at home (spa, pools, room service, terrace, gyms and much more).

And although completely new to the Bulgarian market, this type of tourism is starting to gain popularity without the Bulgarians even realizing that we are part of the trend.

The crisis situation, government restrictions, constantly canceled flights and financial instability, combined with our desire to rest, relax and enjoy the approaching summer, are increasingly pushing us towards Staycation.

We at Flat Manager welcome every form of tourism and that's why we have prepared special offers for you with jacuzzis, great views, spacious terraces and a bunch of other amenities and beauties that we don't always have in our homes.
