Today we're sharing the story of Shannon and Josh, who met on Airbnb and are now a family!

Very rarely does love show up at our door with the intention of taking up residence in our guest room. That's exactly what happens when Shannon decides to stay at Josh and Ernie's house in San Francisco for a night.
Josh's father, Ernie, becomes ill and finds himself in financial difficulties. Josh considers ways to help his father keep his beautiful home overlooking the San Francisco Bay and discovers Airbnb. He makes profiles of several rooms of the house and together with his father they begin to welcome guests. The property immediately attracted the interest of many visitors and the family managed to earn enough money to keep the house.
At the time, Shannon was returning to the States after living in Edinburgh for a while, with no clear idea of where she wanted to live. She decides to see if San Francisco is her place and reserves a night at Ernie and Josh's house to explore the city.
"The first thing that surprised me was, 'Who is this handsome man who opened the door for me?' Shannon says with a smile. “I was expecting an elderly person from the owner's profile on Airbnb, but instead I came across a charming man preparing dinner for his father. This is called a good surprise!"
As Shannon settles into the room, she and Josh begin to talk, and hours pass imperceptibly. At one point, Shannon asks where she can have dinner in the area.
"Looking back, I'm like, 'You idiot! Why don't you invite her to dinner with you?!' Josh shares. "Then I didn't think and told her to go to a sushi restaurant nearby."
"I was in a sad mood and trying to figure out where I belonged after my life in Edinburgh," Shannon recalls. "I was at dinner all alone and almost in tears. At the same time, something made me feel at home. I called a friend to tell her “I think this is the place for me! And by the way, you won't believe it! My host is a very good looking man who takes care of his father…and cooks! "
Shannon leaves the next day, but decides to move to San Francisco permanently and hooks up with Josh. A year later, the two are engaged, living together in the house and hosting guests from all over the world through Airbnb.
"I can safely say that this has been the best year of my life," Shannon shared. "I can't believe how it all happened!"
Josh agrees. "I really thought I would never get married. It just didn't work out for me. At that time, I hardly left the house because I was studying, taking care of my father and receiving guests. It seemed impossible until the woman of my dreams knocked on my door.”
